Game of Thrones: List of Houses

A Game of Thrones proposes some of the best political and fantasy based plots in the history of television. The story is based in the continent of Westeros that is the home to 9 Noble Houses. There is a lot happening in Westeros and it might be particularly hard to remember who is from which house, or whose name is what in the process. Here is a simple and short list of all the noble houses and their distinct members to help you keep track of them and in the process the story line too.

House Starks:
House Stark is settled in Winterfell, which is in the northern ends of Westeros and south of the Great Wall. The Starks are the principal house in the North and the Stark Lords are obliged to take any and every important decision here. Before the Targaryens came along and conquered all of the seven kingdoms in Westeros, the Starks reigned as kings in the Northern frontier. Post the conquer; the Starks were given the role of Lords in Lords of Winterfell and Wardens. The House is recognised for its honesty and devotion to its duty. The coat of the house is a Dire Wolf against a white back ground and its motto is “Winter is Coming.”

• Bran Stark- Middle son to Ned and Catelyn Stark.
• Rickon Stark- Youngest son of Ned and Catelyn Stark.
• Jon Snow- Illegitimate Son of Ned Stark, Member of the Night’s Watch.
• Benjen Stark- Younger brother of Ned Stark, First Ranger of the Night’s Watch.

House Lannisters :
The Lannisters were previously the king of the Westerlands and is seated in Casterly Rock. They were dethroned from their position once the Targaryens took over all the seven kingdoms in Westeros. They were later given the post of the Warden of the Western lands and they remained so for long. They are without a doubt the richest family in the whole of Westeros, this is mainly due to all the Gold that the family owns, thanks to the Gold Mones located in this part of the continent.

• Tywin Lannister- Lord of Casterly Rock, Patriarch and Warden of the West.
• Cersei Lannister- Daughter to Tywin Lannister, Twin sister to Jaime Lanister and the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
• Jaime Lannister- Eldest Son to Tywin Lannister, Member of the Kingsguard and Biological father to Cersei Lannister’s Son Jofferey.
• Tyrion Lannister- youngest son to Tywin Lannister. Master of Coin and acting Hand of the King.
• Joffrey Baratheon- Eldest son of Cersei’s. Though thought to be the son of Robert Baratheon, is actually the son of Jaime Lannister.
• Myrcella Baratheon- Eldest daughter of Cersei.
• Tommen Baratheon- Youngest son of Cersei.

House of Baratheon:
It is the house of the reigning king and the principal house of the land of Storm Lands. It is also one of the youngest houses to fit the noble scene. It came into power when Robert Baratheon dethroned the reigning Tagaryens. Watch Game of thrones season 8 online

• Robert Baratheon- King of the Seven Kingdoms, and the Patriarch.
• Stannis Baratheon- Younger brother to Robert and the Lord of Dragonstone.
• Renly Baratheon- Youngest brother of Robert and Stannis and the Lord of Storm’s End.

House of Targaryen:
The Targaryens are originally from the continent of Essos and take over the seven kingdoms of Westeros, only to be subsequently be dethroned by Robert Baratheon.

• Daenerys Targaryen- The mother of Dragons, Khaleesi, the Matriarch.
• Viserys Targaryen- Brother of Daenerys.
• Aerys II Targaryen- Father of (Daenerys and Viserys, Former King.

House Greyjoy :
House Greyjoy resides in Pyke on the Iron islands and ruled the land before the Targaryens took over the seven kingdoms.

• Balon Greyjoy- Lord of the Iron Islands and Patriarch.
• Theon Greyjoy- First Son to Balon Greyjoy.
• Asha Greyjoy- Oldest Child to Balon Greyjoy.

House of Arryn :
Jon Arryn the head of the house of Arryn served as the King’s Hand to Robert Baratheon, and was poisoned, to leave the post to Eddard Stark.

• Jon Arryn- Patriarch and the former Hand of the King.
• Lysa Arryn- Wife to Jon Arryn and sister to Catelyn Stark.
• Robert Arryn- Son of Lysa Arryn.

House of Martell:
The house seats itself at Sunspear Castle in Dorne. This was the only kingdom in Westeros that became successful in retaining its freedom during the Targaryen conquest.

• Doran Martell- Patriarch and the Prince of Dorne).
• Oberyn Martell – Younger brother of Doran Martell.

House of Tully:
Riverrun in the Riverlands is the home to the Tully and Lady Caetlyn and Lysa come from this house.

• Hoster Tully- Lord of Riverrun, the Patriarch, and Father to Catelyn and Lysa.
• Edmure Tully- only son to Hoster Tully.

House of Tyrell:

• Olenna Tyrell- Mother of Mace Tyrell.
• Margaery Tyrell- Daughter of Mace Tyrell.
